So many of us are guilty of criticising and beating ourselves up because we’re not the person we used to be or the one we want to be. I want you know that that is fine, absolutely fine - ‘YOU’RE SMASHING IT’, ‘YOU’RE AWESOME & TOTALLY BADASS’ … think of all those things you achieve on a daily basis… it might not be the 5km run, the yoga session, the gym workout! You may not have eaten your 5 a day, enough protein or meditated for 20 mins. Perhaps you didn’t ice bath, foam rolled or drunk enough water. Holy shit some days I don’t even get a chance to shower!! You may not have achieved any of the above but I bet you did… the school run, made lunches, emptied the dishwasher, did 3 loads of washing, been to the supermarket, run some errands, cooked some dinner, washed up, helped with home work, ran kids to activities and clubs, checked on your elderly relatives all while holding down a full time job. You’ve done way more than most.
Please give yourself a break and do yourself a favour and set realistic goals. Do not be comparing yourself to images on Instagram! A lot of those beauties don’t have kids, they have no responsibilities and all the time in the world to exercise and look after themselves - they are their own priority. You are doing so much more than that - you are achieving way more than that individual…. If your day is as busy as mine no amount of prioritising will allow you time to work out, food prep etc
I’m learning to let go of that person I once was, say goodbye to my competitive streak and quieten my inner athlete. Im learning to set more realistic goals such as a daily walk (great for mindfulness) no matter how short and way smaller chunks of exercise to energise not exhaust me. Prioritise veggies and sources of protein and good fats in your meals to support your energy levels and hormone balance.
Don’t overthink things, Let go and allow yourself to embrace this change - it’s bloody well ok.
