How are your collagen levels?

Bone is made mostly of collagen, bone is living, growing tissue. Collagen is a protein that provides a soft and flexible framework, where as calcium phosphate adds strength and hardness to compact bone.
Many women take collagen supplements for hair, nails and skin but in terms of health, collagen is essential for bone health.
For Many years we’ve believed the route to strong healthy bones was to take our calcium supplements, eat cheese and drink milk, this isn’t so much the case.

If we take a tumble bones need a certain amount of ‘flex’ to avoid breaking - collagen allows the bone to flex and give under stress.
Being a living tissue, bones undergo continuous remodelling. In our youth, bone deposits and rejuvenation out weigh bone removal and reabsorption. For us women, bone loss increases quickly after menopause, when estrogen levels drop rapidly. In the five to seven years after menopause, women can lose up to 20 percent or more of their bone. Osteoporosis can become a major and debilitating problem.

There are foods that contain a biaoavaiable form of collagen that your body can use straight away.
Bone broth, chicken (inc skin), fish, shellfish, and egg whites, along with a healthy dose of citrus fruits, berries, garlic, leafy greens, beans, cashews, tomatoes and peppers can help with bone health.

There are also many supplements available which are simple and easy to take. this is the one i take
